You Tube Questions

Dear Moderators,

Can you post a You Tube Video that is under 3 hours long on this site? I searched for this information on this forum and couldn't find anything on time limitation regarding You Tube. I do not want to get in trouble; its better to ask first before posting it. The reason for this ... I would love to post the entire "Love of Carmen" you tube movie that's 2 hours and 39 minutes long on my Rita Hayworth - The Love Goddess Thread for everyone enjoyment. Or, post it elsewhere with your permission.

My motto - it's doesn't hurt to ask ... so what is the verdict here?

I can be awfully patience about this ... thank you for your assistance here. I can even wait until I hear from anyone of you.

Thanks, Kingme.

There is no time limit on youtube videos on this site, Kingme. You may not be aware of this, but if you post just the 1st clip from a series of clips, when a person finishes seeing it, the next sequential clip will usually appear on the end of the clip in a playlist, eliminating the need to post one clip after another in order to show an entire film. I hope that helps a bit.

On another issue:

FYI: This is just a suggestion and you are welcome to post youtube connections any way you would like, but perhaps this could be of help to someone...

The "https:" that now appears in front of links found on many youtube videos indicates that you are logged in on youtube when you are trying to copy and paste that link here.

If you would like to post links from youtube here and allow members to view the video here on the SSO, you can access the http: version of the youtube video by:
1.) removing the "s" from http and then highlighting the link and clicking on the youtube button on the right at the top of your message box. Or...
2.) logging out of your youtube account and then accessing the video you are looking for anonymously, and copying the link without the https

When you post it here it would then look like this:

Not logged into youtube or with "s" removed from "http":
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RaRFgY0lJ5c

Logged into youtube:

How would I set up a thread for Movie Trailers? Golden Era/Classics and newer ones? Where should I place them?

Where could I put classic movie scores and soundtracks?

Thank You

Gary Cooper

Good idea. I have now created a new forum for just this purpose. viewforum.php?f=133

How do I post? I went to the forum you created and got this:

"You do not have the required permissions to view or read topics within this forum".

Thank You

Do we need to mindful of whether the film is in the public domain, or not?

If it is uploaded on YT and is viewable, it is OK.
When a video is uploaded to YT, it can be "public" or "private". YT even determines if it is/isn't "OK for kids".

So if you can view it, it's "public" & can be seen by anyone & OK to link it here.

If it was "protected" or "restricted" in any way, the link wouldn't work, you'd have to login or pay to view it.
