This clip is not for everyone, but if you appreciate old school magicians, this is one of the best close magic acts you'll ever see. Try to stick with it at least through the coin section and you'll see what I am taking about. It also reminds me how good the Dick Cavett show was (and the theme).

I have to add the link, because I don't know how to link the video by itself. It's halfway down the page on the left side. It's a half hour show. Hope you enjoy.

Star Wars as a silent film:

I love this! Not only did it remind me of how much George Lucas was influenced by previous cinematic storytellers, but whoever created this should exhibit it along with Metropolis (1927). The piano accompaniment was really delightful. Btw, while watching this, I kept thinking how much the silent Star Wars needed restoration!

Thanks for posting this homage/pastiche.

Here's another fun clip. Kinda Star Wars if filmed at Keystone.

Now listen: I know the following ad is as much propaganda as it is promotion, but after all the ribing & hassling I took for being a diehard Bowtie Guy (Chevy fanatic) in the wake of the Detroit Bail-Out (as if Ford hadn't weaseled nearly a billion$ in gov't no-interest loans on the down-low in the 90's), with everybody cracking wise about "GM= Government Motors, ha-ha-ha," I was really pumped to hear that in a record 33 mos., General Motors has paid back over 90% of it's loan, is back trading on the stock exchange, and is set to challenge the sales figures of all foreign-owned motor vehicles all across America.
Good on them, and good for us!

That is sweet, Nan! I love how simple these little presentations for Christmas were, and how much work went into the making of them. They were done just for the kids and I wish we had that spirit nowadays.

For this festive Holiday Season:

There's bad and then there's…The Star Wars Holiday Special!

It's starts out tediously horrible (mainly because Lumpy is being a bad wookie) but I assure you it gets delightfully worse. (Includes the actual commercials and News Break when originally broadcast on the CBS affiliate in Baltimore on November 17, 1978.)

Happy Life Day one and all!

I wasn't quite prepared to watch it. But I did skim through it to see if there was anything Baltimore specific about the commercials. Just the Gladdding Chevrolet ad where my mother worked right next door. She and the building are still in the same spot.
