I have to say when it comes to detectives, the ladies fare much better on TV than they do in the movies. In the movies, they're only helpers for the men, but on TV they often carry their own. Also, the ladies of today are much more believable than they were back in the 70's or 80's. I did have a couple of favorites though.

Mariska Hargitay - Law and Order, SVU

Kyra Sedgewick - The Closer

Sharon Morris - Cold Case

Holly Hunter - Saving Grace

Anne Francis - Honey West

Poppy Montgomery - Without a Trace - though I can't understand a grown woman living life as 'Poppy'.

Pablo de Cote and Sasha - NCIS
