Eve Arden is wonderful... there is no one who could spin a line like Eve.

Two other gals with great timing:

One of my favorite scenes for Glenda:

I have to completely agree here. Keaton and Chaplin had wonderful timing, I don't have anything to add on Keaton except I recommend all the above, same for Chaplin. Cary Grant has wonderful comic timing. In fact I find a lot of the screwball comedians had natural comic ability, some perhaps needed more direction than others. I'd name my favorites as jean Arthur, Katharine Hepburn, Carole Lombard and Claudette Colbert for the women and for the men there are too many to name.

I like Laurel and Hardy's timing too, perfect whatever age you are.

Lombard, Davies, Colbert, Russell, Monroe for the women.
Grant, Price (I am serious here) and Laurel & Hardy for the men.

Thelma Ritter, Una Merkel, and Aline MacMahon. Along with Eve Arden, they could deliver a line better than anyone.

Great choices, Lady Eve! I just watched part of the colorized Miracle at 34th Street (1948) just to catch Thelma Ritter's screen debut encountering Santa and "giving him a piece of my mind."

It is wonderful to see you here, Eve. Thanks for sharing your time with us.

Thelma, Eve, Aline, Myrna, Una, Marilyn, Roz, Carole, Judy H., Una and Claudette have colored my world more than they'll ever know. All of the snappy, tart, pithy, worldly-wise comments from these gals have gotten me in to more trouble. If I had done a little sewing with all those needles, I'd be a much happier woman.

Thelma Ritter's grandson always watches and waits for Thelma's entrance every time he sees Miracle on 34th Street.
And I must admit, I do too.

Lady Eve, I am so glad to see you here. Welcome to the SSO!
