Gambling can be dangerous

Post by Lzcutter »

Subject: Gambling Jones

Dear Dean,

I have just gotten off the phone with my brother Billy. You know him better as Judge Priest.

We may have a problem on our hands.

Seems Filmlover, Matthelm and Rusty have been hanging out down at the motor pool picking up gambling tips from Bill D. and Big Boy Williams.

Well, I guess the lads were flush with knowledge and feeling their oats. According to my bro, Billy, the lads got into a card game with the Big Mick.

To their credit, Billy says the game started off friendly enough (He was there, it being payday and all).

However, Filmlover was soon on a winning streak and the lads didn't seem to understand the underlying rule of the game, Let the Big Mick win.

Flush with a winning streak, there was no stopping him and he cleaned Lonnigan's wallet out. Lonnigan is now reportedly looking for Filmlover's head on a stick (and I mean that literally).

The boys down at the Motor Pool have suggested contacting Henry Gondorf for assistance.

Can we use Sheldrake's slush fund dollars to pay for Gondorf to take the 20th Century Limited to New York and then the train up here?

If yes, I will ask MrsL to prepare her finest suite for him.

Please advise as quickly as possible as the Judge thinks Filmlover's days may be numbered.

Please advise.

Memo from the Dean

To: LzCutter, Head of Film Restoration and Preservation
CC: Klondike, ostensible head of the Motor Pool (though his oversight abilities seem a bit questionable today)

Re: Classic Cinema College Slush Funds

Cheese and crackers, those clowns from the motor pool better sober Henry Gondorf up before even trying to use any of the Sheldrake fortune that's sitting in our numbered Swiss account. Granted, Gondorf does clean up rather well, but I'll be darned if that mischievous gleam in his eye doesn't betray him on occasion.

Personally, I'd prefer that you consult with an in-house abstemious type who just looks as though he's clueless, like our own Mr. Peabody, professor of Quantum Physics over at the Jacob Barnhardt Science Center. Seems that Peabody, (seen below), has made a statistical analysis of the probability of certain cards being distributed during the average card game of "Spit in the Ocean" that's remarkably accurate--in other words, he's been thrown out of all the best casinos for card-counting.

Besides he looks like such a nebbish, that he might just appear an easy mark during your potential fleecing. Give it some thought, and get back to me, or contact Mr. Peabody's assistant, Sherman (or "Boy", as he insists on calling him condescendingly).

Btw, good luck, you're gonna need it.
