CANDIDS II
CANDIDS II
Today begins my new thread called CANDIDS II. It will follow the original CANDIDS thread in the same vein with some amazing pictures from the golden age of Hollywood.
I hope you enjoy it.

Re: CANDIDS II
Hi Joe,
So glad you are continuing your excellent thread of Candids.
It truly is the most popular and sought-after part of this Forum - thank you once again...
I loved the photo of Pola Negri receiving her American citizenship; I remember that day, although I wasn't there - she described it to me a month later, when we arrived back from Europe.
Also, the pictures of George Chakiris. Christy and I nearly cornered him in the lobby of the W Hotel at the Vanity Fair party last April - but he was too fast for us. Maybe next year!

Hi Joe,
Delighted you are back and that you're willing to keep up your very fine work! We are all silver screen fans and I'm betting we're a bunch of "Joe fans" too!

Re: CANDIDS II
So happy to see your new topic, Joe.
If you don't mind, I'd like to take this opportunity to let AM in on the ground floor.
Did you know that AM worked as a fashion model in the 1940s?
Here she is modeling for CBS Fashions in 1945. [Captions as released to the press.]
Rainbow hues in the hand-woven wool jacket selected by CBS actress Agnes
('Mayor of the Town') Moorehead permits endless accessorizing color combinations.
Agnes highlights two of her favorite shades -- a twilight violet picked up in
the straight skirt and soft olive green in her alligator bag and matching shoes.
The opalescent buttons reflect the spectrum tints in ever-changing combinations.
Desert pink gabardine, highlighted with navy trim, appeals to CBS star Agnes
Moorehead of the 'This Is My Best' series for its casual but understanding tailoring.
(From Royal of California).
Stone Martin Stole worn by CBS actress Agnes ('Mayor of the Town') Moorehead
was designed by William Baer of Los Angeles. The long ends can be rolled up
in muff effect for evening wear.

Re: CANDIDS II
Glad you're back, Joe - with CANDIDS II (the Sequel) and nice to see my boy Georgie included in the photos. But at first, quick glance I thought the fellow checking out Raft's racing form was Abner Biberman.

Lizabeth Scott gets prepped for the next scene in "Paid in Full", while director William Dieterle talks to Diana Lynn. The movie is a real tearjerker.

Re: CANDIDS II
I guess it was all in fun and in the interests of escaping her grief over her late husband, but I always found the idea of Norma and Raft as a couple kind of odd...but not as odd as Mickey Rooney and Norma (allegedly). Great picture, Joe--never saw one with the pair before.
