Hi,

What a great picture of Stephen McNally and his family...
I'm always so gratified to see a Hollywood star with a happy family life - he loves his wife and kids and no scandal attached to him ever....

Now for my silly question of the day:
With 6 kids already, why did he feel the need to steal "Johnny Belinda"????
OK, you can groan now!!!

Great picture of Iris Adrian, a excellent comedianne. Also, Vivi Janiss. How many people remember her?

You're doing a excellent job, Mongo

What a wild & wacky grab-bag today is, Joe!
A transcendental astronaut, a folk-heo getaway driver, MGM's boy-genius, the voice of Bugs Bunny, and best-lookin' dude in buckskins!
Hoo-ray for Hollywood!

You're not kiddin', Klondike.
...concluding with a durable kid, a stuffy Brit, a bad boy character, and an outrageous comic.

Hi Joe,

Thanks for Ramon Novarro today - it brought a smile to my face...
One of the nicest people to ever exist; everybody loved him; only is ending was unfortunate and tragic.....

BTW, Ruta Lee is 75 today and there is a big birthday bash for her tonight.

STEPIN FETCHIT (1902 - 1985)
I'm presently reading Jill Watt's biography of Hattie McDaniel, and just read a section on Stepin Fetchit (nee Lincoln Theodore Monroe Andrew Perry!). He was born in Key West, Florida, played vaudeville through the 1920's and was the first African American to receive an exclusive, long term contract with a studio (Fox). Often villified for playing outrageously stereotypical parts, he claimed he made them outrageous to conciously make caricatures of parts; that is, to satirize the stereotypes that white Hollywood was forcing on him. At any rate, he was a financial -- if not artistic -- success. He owned a lavish home with servants, and an extravagant automobile with his name emblazoned in neon across its side. Although able to read, he convinced directors that he was illiterate, which allowed him to change lines as the camera ran. 'Tis a fascinating read!
