Lawd A'mighty, Chet, what are you doin' ?!!!!
I know you probably lost a poker hand or two to King Gillette, but this is not the way to get him back!
Grab that badger-brush & a basin of boilt water, Mister, and head for the lavatory; your folks hit the jackpot on the old gene pool - don't disgrace them now!

Alison, be very proud: Stan was indeed " a fine Lancashire lad" - and he & Pal Ollie now belong to us all, forever.

Wow!!!! Joe, that photo of L&H is probably the best one I've ever seen. They look so intelligent, and handsome and dapper, like the attractive men they both were in real life. Look at Stan's virile face. And Babe Hardy really was a babe, wasn't he? Small wonder women found them so attractive. I'm in love all over again. Thanks so much for this.

I'd like to cast a vote of appreciation for the undersung Wayne Morris, who made "Aw, shucks" sweetness look so real. A very fine actor, who rarely got to do much more than look cute and sheepish. I was so impressed with his breakout performance in Paths of Glory, and his more typical work as Cagney's guileless gofer in The Time of Your Life.

Judith, glad that you appreciated the Laurel & Hardy image, like I did.
Wayne Morris was certainly an appealing actor and it's a shame he was nipped in the bud so early.

Plus they made you laugh. Personally, I would love to encounter some of Babe's southern gentlemanly charm nowadays.

I loved the picture of Laurel and Hardy too. I'm very proud of Stan Laurel's Lancashire origins, his birth place isn't too far from here, I intend to take the kids when they are old enough to enjoy it, I'm sure the tour guides will be given a run for their money that day. I can't stop asking questions in places like that. Stan is now commemorated with a statue in his birth town of Ulverston, I wish they'd put Oliver Hardy with him, it doesn't seem right to have one without the other.

FDR jnr looks pretty handsome in that picture, did he ever try out in movies.
