Lewis Collins RIP

Post by stuart.uk »

The British actor Lewis Collins has died at age 67 after a long battle with cancer.

Lewis is best known for his role as CI5 agent William Bodie in The Professionals with whom he starred with Gordon Jackson and the shows surviving member Martin Shaw. He looked like he was set for movie stardom, even being interviewed for the part of James Bond (apparently he was to aggressive). Lewis also starred in the S.A.S thriller He Who Dares Wins, top billed over Richard Widmark and Edward Woodward, but somehow International stardom eluded him. Yet Martin Shaw has gone on to great things with the likes of Judge John Deed and Inspector George Gentley. Here's a link as a tribute to him

Hi Stuart

I absolutely adored Lewis Collins and wish he had had a much bigger film career than he did. He was great in Who Dares Wins and of course on TV in The Professionals. I suspect despite his living in LA for years he wasn't as well known to our American friends as he is in the UK. But he was as glamorous, as dangerous, and as charming as one of the classic screen idols, IMO.
