Dear Joe,

Thanks a million for the fabulous photo of Elaine Stewart - a darling lady... Great sense of humour - often ribald!!!!!!!
I can't believe she's gone and we won't talk on the phone anymore. She was the last of "my old ladies" as I termed them.

Can you believe that when Zsa Zsa had her accident, Ann Miller and Elaine would visit her often (they were all good friends) and were so worried she would die; and now - she's survived them!!!!
Only Rhonda Fleming, Gloria De Haven and Ruta Lee are still around from that group - but I never knew them...
I did see and talk to Carol Cook last year at TCM FF, but I didn't know her very well either.

As usual thanks for your input, Larry. Its always a pleasure hearing about your "old ladies".
I believe that Carol Cook (whom I like) was a good friend of Lucille Ball. When you met her did she still have that vibrant red hair?

Hi Joe,

Yes, Carol Cook did have her vibrant red hair.
I was standing in line in the boiling sun at the Montalban Theater with Sam (part of my TCM Brigade!!) waiting to get into the theater to see Sophia Loren's interview, when Carol and her husband came through. I stepped forward and said, "Hi Carol, good to see you!" and she said, "Oh hello dear, I'm glad you could make it here". And, went in.
I know she didn't know who I was, but she was very gracious.
When we were all seated, I went across to where she was and had a nice conversation with her. I told her I'd seen her many times entering Lucy's home (down the road from us) and where I'd lived and that I was a friend of Agnes Moorehead's and she suddenly clicked in and blurted out - "Oh, you're the Doheny boy!! - oh dear God, I remember all that too".... I laughed and said, "Yes"..... Although I'm not the Doheny boy - only related through my grandmother. I didn't correct her, as she's in her 90's and would be confused....
She looked good but was slow and slightly bent and needed assistance manoeuvering - but then who doesn't now????????????????
I loved seeing her again - she's genuine and classy...

Larry
