Robert Hardy RIP

Post by stuart.uk »

Just heard the sad news the actor Robert Hardy died at 91. He was probably best know for playing the vet Siegfried Farnon in the classic TV show All Creatures Great And Small, though arguably his greatest performance came in Churchill The Wilderness Years, where he played an aging Winston Churchill in the 1930s before WW2. Robert also played WC in other spin offs including War And Remembrance.
Robert was a close pal of Richard Burton and worked with him on the film The Spy Who Came In From The Cold. He also did a strong episode of The Saint, before playing a cruel abusive Headmaster in Young Winston. Robert was also Robert Dudley to Glenda Jackson's Elizabeth R in the early 70s and was acclaimed for his Prince Albert to Annette Crosbie's Queen Victoria in Edward The 7th
