For me a little of Eddie goes a long way. He was probably just getting
back at Mank for all the jokes Mank makes about Eddie when he's doing
his outro right before Noir Alley. Some are funny, some not so much.
Eddie Muller knows his stuff but his intros are sooooo long!
When we watch a Noir Alley movie, the sweetie will often make a "get on with it" gesture during a Muller intro.

Would you believe I don't remember that DVD episode, Dargo? Damn, my memory is going downhill....
(my favorite one is Rob's nightmare about the aliens and walnuts, lol)
That's a great episode as well.
And here's the Empress Carlotta Necklace episode...
I've never seen that episode. Rob's mother was played by Carol Veazie, she of the famous line, in perhaps her best-known role: "Mother of Jefferson Davis, she's passing the fox!"
And here's the "real" Empress Carlota, with one of her many necklaces:

No doubt that Eduardo knows his noir. I think they used to be a few minutes
longer, but now they generally seem to run for five minutes. He writes his
own intros and outros but he only has to do it once a week, where most of
the other hosts have a much heavier work load.
Donuts, hamburgers, hot dogs, chop suey joints and red-checkered table clothed Southern Italian restaurants seemed to be the main source of food in 1930's and early (pre-WWII) 1940's movies. Washed down with lots of coffee.
Toward the end of Now, Voyager, Charlotte Vale (Bette Davis) says to Tina (Janis Wilson): "June (Bonita Granville) has made some very special canapés for you."
What are those canapés? Are there recipes? I've been wondering about that for years.

Pet peeve. The cable company puts about two films a day that appear on the channel into an on demand queue. Why do they have to put the ghastly The Swarm on demand for a whole month every single time it airs?

I assume you know what canapés are, but I had to look it up: a small piece of bread or pastry with a savory topping.
So isn't it as simple as: June has made some very special pastries for you.
If your question is what is so special about these pastries, I assume Charlotte just used "special" to make it seem June did that just for Tina.

I can't believe that pampered June was a chef!
I know what canapés are. Normally, it's an interchangeable word for Hors d oeuvres, to some extent (I wouldn't call them pastries). But I've always wanted to know what's so special about the canapes June made? Assuming it's a cracker of some type with something on it, what's on it? I'm reminded of the line from the song in Funny Girl: "Just some dried up toast on a sliver, on the top a little chopped liver!"

June was a first class b*tch to Charlotte who NEVER should have forgiven her.
I am certain June had not really changed her ways and served Tina dog food disguised as canapes.
I like Frankie Pentangeli's comment on canapes in GODFATHER II. To Fredo at the celebration for Michael's son in Nevada: "A waiter asks if I want can-o-pees. Can-o-pees? Just give me some sausage and peppers!"
