I have been working as a Veterinary Assistant and have realized an owners’s personality is honestly & directly reflected by their dog’s behaviour - see it day in/day out.
That said, how many of these are set up publicity shots with “model” dogs?
The Hitchcocks, Nivens & Bette Davis seem to be their personal pets; one Poodle...the rest Terriers!
Highly social, obedient, clever & tenacious dogs.
All qualities appreciated by those who work in the Film Industry.

So I wonder how they decided who got the "Miss" title and who didn't?
Looks like Crawford's yarn and knitting needles are sitting in her chair.

Yea, some of the ones with 'miss' were married at the time (E.g. Fontaine to Brian Aherne). Crawford and Tone were divorced, thus and she was a 'miss' when The Woman was filmed.
Shearer was a widow. Russell had yet to marry (she would a year after the film was released). Goddard status with Chaplin was confusing.
Maybe it has to do with if the actress was under a fixed contract with MGM? all those without a 'miss' appear to be.
