The Lady-Ang Sang Suu Kyi

Spoiler

I just watched The Lady this morning and thought I'd recomend it. It's about the politcial activist Ang Sang Suu Kyi (who was called Suu, probably becuase of her UK conections), who fought for democrecy in Burma.(Her father liberated Burma for the British Empire after WW2 but was assassinated in 1947) While Michelle Yeoh is great as Suu if anything the performance of the film came from David Thewlis as her British husband Michael Yaris ho fought his wife's cause the cause from the UK. It was also a great love story, tested by years of seperation. One of the most movie segments of the film was when Michael was terminally ill of cancer, he fought and failed to try and get a visa to visit her, while she had to make the agonizing decision to stay in Burma during his illness, because the Military regime wouldn't have allowed her back to the Country of her birth.

It was also nice to see a number of British character actors/actresses in the film
