Re: Vote for Your Favorite Movie Quotes for the Banner
These are delightful choices! Here's one from our pal knitwit on Facebook:
"Personally, Veda's convinced me that alligators have the right idea. They eat their young".
I'll add the first one posted now and the others a bit later, but all comers are welcome. We are replacing Charlotte Vale's epiphany from Now, Voyager (1942), "I'm not afraid. I'm not afraid, mother. I'm...not afraid, " with Norma Bates' comment from Psycho (1960): "A boy's best friend is his mother."

"Personally, Veda's convinced me that alligators have the right idea. They eat their young," the immortal lines that sprang to life with Eve Arden's sharp characterization in Mildred Pierce (1945), has been posted. Thanks for your input--and let's keep those a quips comin'...

Good one for Father's Day, Chris.movieman1957 wrote:"Miss Jean Louise, stand up. Your father's passing."
Does anyone else have a quote from a classic film related to fatherhood?

The current quote on the banner is from Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House (1948)...
Any summertime quotes from classic films that you could suggest?

I don't know if this is a 'summertime' quote, but it is from Summer Holiday (1948), spoken on the fourth of July:
"I always knew you could succeed if you'd just abstain. . .if you'd only. . .you know?"

How about this nugget spoken by Mrs. Venerable (Katharine Hepburn)?
"Each day we would carve each day like a piece of sculpture, leaving behind us a trail of days like a gallery of sculpture until suddenly, last summer."

Tsar Nicholas II: "Oh, God, but it's good to be alive! The Earth is like a field in summer, just bursting with good things."
Nicholas and Alexandra (1971)
It is not of summer but I like this one very much:
Mrs. Hilda Courtney: "It's so terribly awkward, having a dead body around, don't you agree Mr. Holmes?"
Dressed to Kill (1946)

This week's summery quote is a choice selected by Masha. It is spoken by Czar Nicholas II (Michael Jayston) in Nicholas and Alexandra (1971)
Does anyone have any Fourth of July-themed quotes from classic films that they would like to suggest for our banner?
