Why does the forum look so different?

Postby SSO Admins » June 30th, 2007, 10:23 am

I'm sure anyone logging in noticed a totally new look. I did this for a couple of reasons.

The most important one was that the theme I was using broke a registration feature that I want to implement. From now on, people registering new accounts will have to enter a word from a box in order to complete their registration. We've already had one spammer show up here, and this will help prevent others.

Two, it will enable me to implement new features a lot easier. The old theme didn't work wish some mods.

I did keep the Stepford couple, since I learned the hard way what happens when I try to remove them.

If you have problems or issues with the new theme, please post in the Help forum. I'll more or less be around all weekend.

I like the new, streamlined look, Jon! It looks like what Mr. Hemingway would call "a clean well-lighted place". Thanks for the heads up about the look.

Hey Jon - Very much like the site's new look!
And oh, Moira, I very much like your new look, too.

The new look is wonderful, thanks! And I'm glad the couple survived the change...

I love the new look of the site (and it did my heart good to find Thelma Ritter sitting there with Moira too). Good work Jon!

Jon, I changed my profile to "subsilver" quite a while ago. Is this what everyone is seeing now? I went to edit my profile to see if there was another option, but only subsilver comes up. I don't see the infamous Stepford couple, either. (They weren't on the subsilver choice)

It's a modified version of subsilver, using some of the icons from ashretro. You probably need to log out and log back in to see it. I've been using subsilver too because it makes administration easier.

I'm glad no one is upset at the new look (so far). I've wanted to make this change for some time, but didn't want everyone all upset.
