This is recently discovered & released, from late in Armstrong's career.
Great selection of songs, great musicians in the line up and Louie at his best trumpet playing & most righteous singing.
:smiley_shades:
Released on the Verve label, so you know it’s excellent sound quality. A great substitute for all those primitive, noisy previous Louis Armstrong releases.

Crown Of Creation by Jefferson Airplane -Aug 1968

The group's 4th album and a good album, an improvement over the last. It reached #6 on the charts. The opener is a Grace Slick song, "Lather", maybe my favorite on the album. It has a haunting melody and bizarre lyrics about a man who does not want to grow up. "Triad" is a David Crosby song about a threesome, Grace sings lead again on another haunting track. "Star Track" gives a chance for guitarist Jorma Kaukenon to show his stuff. We finally get to hear Marty Balin's great vocals again on "Share A Little Joke". "Chushingura" is a short, weird electronic instrumental by drummer Spencer Dryden.
Side 2 has another good song by Balin, "If You Feel". The title song is good psychedelia with a nice blend of all the voices. Grace has more great vocals on her song "Greasy Heart". It ends with a long psychedelic song with good guitar, "The House At Pooneil Corners"

I never knew that. The song has some creepy vibes to it, such as "Child!" being sung at some parts, also hearing a plaintive voice saying "Mommy?" after the line "Is it true I am no longer young?"

DRYDEN turned 30 the year of the album's release. SLICK turned 30 in 1969. Youth culture at the time advised: "Never trust anyone over 30."
I think GRACE felt bad after a remark of "no longer young" perhaps out of fear...

Volunteers by Jefferson Airplane-Nov 1969

The group's 5th album and their best since Surrealistic Pillow. It went to #13 on the charts. The first track, "We Can Be Together" has driving rhythm guitars and great harmony singing. "Good Shepherd" is a soothing gospel type number arranged by guitarist Jorma Kaukonen. "The Farm" is a good country music parody with pedal steel guitar by Jerry Garcia. "Hey Frederick" is a long (9 min) song with some great singing by Grace Slick, I also liked the bass by Jack Casady.
Side 2 begins with a good lead vocal by Marty Balin on "Turn My Life Down". There is a mesmerizingly beautiful version of David Crosby's "Wooden Ships" with Paul, Grace and Marty each taking a lead vocal and then harmonizing. "Eskimo Blue Day" is a weird but interesting song sung by Grace. "A Song For All Seasons" is another good country flavored tune. "Meadowlands" is a haunting instrumental taken from an old Russian melody. The title song closes the album, a rousing protest song with more great singing.

I remember this song only too well. Our station played the hell out of it.
Great looking label though and I did like the song.

My favorite of theirs.
The album was originally to be entitled Volunteers of America (the idea from seeing a VoA van; kabash by record label).
I think "Good Shepherd" is a traditional spiritual, as you said, arranged by KAUKONEN.
"Eskimo Blue Day" is about environmental awareness ("Doesn't mean sh!t to a tree")...
