Happy New Year to all of our Jewish friends

Postby Uncle Stevie » September 11th, 2013, 12:36 am

Yom Kippur is the finale to the New Year celebration of Rosh Hashanah. Yom Kippur is the day of fasting and the day of atonement when we ask for forgiveness of all of our sins. Unfortunately I would need a week to get that out of the way. We are having our family of 14 to our home on Saturday to feast as we break the fast. I will make my famous chicken matzoh ball soup followed by cold cut sandwiches plus deli salads. of course we will follow with desserts. a good time will be had by all.

My wife Rita and I wish you all of our faith a happy and healthy New Year

Happy New Year to you and yours, Uncle Stevie! And to all who are celebrating!

Yum, matzoh ball soup. I almost bought some today because I was craving it. I should've!

I usually make 18 quarts of chicken soup and about 60 matzo balls so that family can take home leftovers. We all love it. it has become a highlight of our family celebration, I use about 9 pounds of chicken and many veggies including dill, leek, onion, celery, parsley, and parsnip. Even the house smells great. I strip my soup to clear and serve with carrots and matzo balls only. This Saturday night we will follow with catered cold cut meat and cheese platters with rye bread and rolls. whip cream, cake and ice cream will make everyone happy.

As a kid I used to have chopped liver and gefilte fish but my kids are not to keen for that so I do not offer it. kids actually change tradition. when Rita and I got married we never imagined our family would be 14 people. But we love them all and would do anything for them. I wanted to buy Halvah but my wife said no, for my health. I guess I will grin and bear it. My wife has kept me alive for our 51 years together so I pay attention, most of the time.

Well enjoy all of your own personal holiday celebrations left in 2013 and may your families come together to warm your hearts. Please try hard for those family moments.

Love for all.

Hi,

OK, so what year is it now? Must be in the 5000's....

And, I'll have 2 quarts of chicken soup and a dozen matzo balls to go...
Also, I'll take all that chopped liver and gefilta fish that your kids don't want....

I love that stuff - - invite me over any time!!

Happy New Year, Uncle Stevie...

Larry
