Just Who Is The Star?

I have just watched a couple of early movies.
The Coast Patrol (1925) According to IMDB Fay Wray in her first Feature length movie is number three on the cast list, but on the DVD cover she is number one. A silent movie about smugglers and an undercover operative of The Coast Patrol who sets out to catch them. It was obvious that 18 year old Fay would move on to bigger and better things.
Probation (1932) According to the cover, the star of this show was 16 year old Betty Grable. IMDB has Betty listed as number nine, with Sally Blane as the star. Sally was one of the four Young sisters, the most famous being Loretta.
Marilyn Monroe appeared on several DVD covers as being the star, when she actually was not. It apparently is just a case of "which name will sell the most DVDs".
