Anyone paying attention to the Little League World Series? Great viewing. I have always been a fan. Those little guys are amazing!

Cody Bellinger is playing OK. It appears most Dodger fans really love the guy and wanted them to resign him, but I wasn't one of them.

I.e. it was time for both to move on.

If I correctly recall reading, jamesjazzguitar, you thought it was healthier for him with his move to Chicago...
I thought that he was on his way to the Hall of Fame, but then he went and negated his first three seasons. Obviously, bat control has been Cody Bellinger's periodic problem along with injuries in recent years, but when healthy, I think of him as being one of the better athletes in latter day baseball: a multi-positional player with some speed, plenty of power and promise.

^ Well, I did anyway. There's probably been too much lost time for Cooperstown now.

The last I saw of Bellinger (in a Cubs uniform...and during a last season game), it appeared he finally was able to learn to keep off those low and inside breaking pitches.

He seemed so pathologically stubborn about pulling pitches. It reminds me of Ted Williams said hitting into the teeth of the Boudreau shift when a bunt or tap down third would've meant an easy hit, Dargo.

This seems contradictory? What do you mean by "resign him."?

As a Dodger non-fan, I always feared him as he strode to the plate. That guy came through for the Dodgers so many times, and to my chagrin. I'm glad he plays no longer for the Dogs. Now I don't have to worry about him when I rooting agin dem bums.

Based on So Cal talk-radio most Dodgers fans were big fans of Cody and wanted the Dodgers to meet his terms and re-sign him. I was NOT one of them.
Thus I was fine with both of them moving on. NoShear covers the main reason: he was too stubborn. I.e. he let his mind get in the way of his physical gifts (which are superior). Cody just didn't work well with the batting coaches the Dodgers had, and going to Chicago was a good move for him.

If one omits the dash in re-sign, it means something totally different, ha.

If one omits the dash in re-sign, it means something totally different, ha. That confusion is what prompted my question, but I wasn't aware of that situation with Cody, oh well all the best I guess as you say, but I am also glad he is not a Dodger, I saw him as Mr Clutch.

Since you are an expert on the Dodgers (no sarcasm) you might be able to tell me why so many Dodger pitchers are injured. I had a conversation about this with someone who didn't know why this was happening and I thought perhaps they are trying to throw too hard? I don't follow this stuff close anymore but it's ironic in that pitchers are so limited on how many pitches they throw, but they get injured> Back when, pitchers like Warren Spahn and Steve Carlton and even Sandy Koufax with his elbot, and they got 35 starts a year and amassed as many has 330 innings a year. Year after year after year. So what going on with these poor boys of today, I hope they can wipe their behinds with breaking a finger.

I really wish I knew why so many Dodgers pitchers are getting injured. Mark Prior has been the pitching coach since 2020. Before that he was the coach for the Padres. Maybe he is a skunk, and this is all part of a secret plan to sink the boys in blue! (I'm joking of course, but maybe the Dodgers should move on from Prior).

Maybe he never learned any lessons from his own injury-plagued career?

Very solid point. Maybe he is thinking: prior pitching coaches pushed me hard, so I'm going to do the same?

The basic problem is that MLB is so focused on pitch velocity and spin rate. Neither of which is easy on the arm. What we need is an ace knuckleballer to arrive on the scene and mess up everyone's thinking.

Whew! Pad get game three of the four-game series from the Mets, 7-0, out hit the Mets 16-2, Musgrove gave up one hit thru six. They can't be losin' to the Metropolitans since the latter are on their tail for a playoff spot. The M's won the first two, and now there is still another tomorra. The home plate umpire was just awful and so I reiterate my fervent conviction that that the home umps must go, no mo, I say. I don't blame them, it's just to much for a human to see the ball that well to make consistently good calls. It it be insisted that the umps should say, please Networks, take away that digital strike zone on our screens so we, the fans, my be accorded the leeway to give the umps the benefit of the doubt once in a while. Let the Ump still be there with a set of headphones so he can hear when someone up there in the booth can let him know the result of the pitch so he can signal ball or strike. This will be a terrible humiliation but they will get over it, if they want to keep their job. They may still be allowed to make calls at the plate when a player is trying to score but no mo making calls over the plate when a baseball is hurled at the plate by a pitcher. I never thought I would take this stance : - ) since I am a hopeless purist in these matters but I have had enough, it is simply too maddening. Oh and by the way, I am equally disturbed even when it goes against the other team, though I still wish that it would always happen to the other team and never ever to the Pads.
