Did both. No luck, Have a headache. Back later.

(Soon to write more acceptable sentences.)

Like those sentences just fine. I adore a good sentence fragment in the evening. Don't like the headache.

It appears to be working after some fiddling around. Now, on to my headache. (yes, I still have it.)

Miss G., I'm embarrassed to report that I still have been unsuccessful in re-registering at TCM, even with all the help I've been given.

I'm screaming and tearing my hair out. I can't take much more!   :x :x :x :x :x        :? :? :? :?    :x :x :x :x :x

I did receive a temporary password from the mod and then tried to follow his instructions, but again, I just haven't been able to get past that demmed Security Code to even reach "Proceed" and continue on. I'm keeping my username (still Bronxgirl48) and the same e-mail address. I put the info in what I'm assuming are the appropriate blocks, but nothing is "clicking". I'm frustrated, angry, testy, hostile, lol. I want my old TCM Message Board back, waaaaaaah! (I know: "Grow up!")

Chris, my head is literally throbbing with all this aggravation. You know how hopelessly at sea I am with technology, so it's very, very bad right now for me with all this. The only thing that gives me some faint pleasure is thinking up an avatar, not that I'd know how to set THAT up.

I wish I had a carafe of sangria on hand.

Yes, Bronxgria---try Masha's advice...ignore the request to re-register, close that pop-up or whatever you have to do to get to SIGN IN and insert your username (or email) and the temp PW you were given. I can see your profile at TCM. i was having the same issues, so just take a deep gulp of air (or sangria) and just know it will come to pass........ :D

Grazie, Masha and Goddess! I'll give it another go right now while taking that deep gulp of air. (sangria-less at the moment, drat!) Wish me luck, lol.

Guys, I made it over to TCM City. Whew. But since I've been having problems for several weeks on my computer with urls (unless I put "www.something" I keep getting "Problem Loading Page"), cherry picking and then uploading a very specific avatar is nigh impossible right now.

Also, how long does a temp password last? Where do I put in a permanent new one?

i think the temp PW lasts until you change it---I haven't yet changed mine, I'm half afraid to in case it all goes kablooey again! :D
To change it, go to My Profile and on the upper right of that page should be a big button that says "Edit Profile". Click on that and you'll get a whole set of options, and a menu on the left including one for email/password.

Instead of going the URL route, would it be easier to right click on a picture you chose, save it to your computer, and then just upload it for your avatar?

Now that you mention it, Miss G., I'm afraid of kablooey too, lol, so I think I'll keep my temp password for now.

I used to be able to upload most any specific photo in the url line, for example, "George O'Brien muscles" or "Rod Taylor in glasses" -- but unless some subject I want has a www address, I can't get ANY picture.

Barb,

Hope this is helpful!

Posting images:

This is now much easier and less convoluted than it was in the old forums. There are three methods of posting images.

A) The best option is to save the image to you computer and upload it to a picture hosting site like Photobucket. The advantages to that are you are able to organize your photos and reuse them in threads days, weeks and months later without having to search the web again for that one particular photo.

Once you have the photo uploaded to Photobucket or another photo-hosting site, click on the Direct code and copy it (usually clicking on it will copy the code).

Open a Reply Window here and click on the Image Icon (two to the right of the Link icon).

Paste the Direct Code into the URL window.

Finish your post and hit the Post button. When you see your reply in the thread it should also contain the photo.

B ) As an attachment-

Open a Reply Window and Use the Full Editor.

Click on the Image Icon (two over from the Link icon on the bottom row)

The frame icon is two over from the Link icon.

Upload the images from your computer as attachments, be sure to click on the Attach This File button when you are done uploading.

Once they are uploaded, you should see them under the reply window. You can add them to your post, by clicking into the reply where you want one to go. Then click on add to this post and it should appear where you want.

Finish your post and hit the Post button. The images will appear as Thumbnails in your post.

Posters can click on the images to see them larger. Once the larger image has been used, use the X, to close out and the post should appear normally in the tread.

C) Posting from another website:

In the Reply Window, you will see two levels of icons. On the bottom level, about half way over, there is a frame icon (two over from the link icon) with green in the middle. Use this icon to post images from other sites.

Click on that and add the URL for the photo to the URL window. Finish your post and hit Post. When you see your post it should contain the image.

Be aware that if you use this method, if the original website deletes the image or changes the URL it will affect how it is viewed in this forum. If the URL changes, the photo won't appear but will appear with a warning notice that the person posting it here did not have permission to do so or the image is no longer available.

Lynn, I'm so grateful to you coming to my rescue, but feel bad because I can't even obtain a photo, much less transfer it to anything. From my perspective, I can't do A, B, or C, because I keep getting "Problem Loading Page" and "Server Not Found". I can't save an image because I can't even GET an image. I cannot upload anything.

Oooooh, I think I understand....that's a browser issue for sure. What browser do you have? Internet Explorer? Firefox? Have you tried just going to http://www.google.com and typing in what you are looking for in the search box...then clicking "images" at the top (the default search results are usually web articles).

Or try this link, which should take you directly to Google Image search (bookmark it if you can):
