On Nov. 15, 1991, Universal unveiled Martin Scorsese's thriller in theaters.

On Nov. 15, 1991, Universal unveiled Martin Scorsese’s thriller Cape Fear in theaters, where it would go on to gross $182 million globally. The film was nominated for two Oscars at the 64th Academy Awards, for Robert De Niro in the best actor category and Juliette Lewis as best supporting actress. Not a film I was fond of. The original is a good, dark thriller, but the remake pushed the sadism too far, and wasted a fine cast in the process. Nick Nolte was the best element of it.
