My grandmother took me to see The Long Gray Line when I was a wee lad. Btw, Kay, I had two graduations from the Lowe's Paradise: junior high and high school. One of the great movie palaces!

Next: This film ends where it began, at an election ball in Silver Bow, Montana, but four years later.

Could it perchance be Maytime (1923), which was remade 14 years later with Nelson Eddy and Jeanette MacDonald?

Nope. The original picture wasn't a musical property at all. But you're close . . .

This thread asks for the ending of a movie or a scene in the film, that's why the title is SPOIILERS, not a thread to ask a trivia question. Please either give the ending of the film or a scene from the film before giving clues, thanks.

I hope you know here KF, that I'll now be standing by in excited anticipation to see if CoffeeDan's spoiler to his movie musical in question here, ends with the actor playing the original Harrison Ford character throwing the actor who plays the original Gary Oldman character off his airplace while belting out a rousing rendition of 'I Will Survive'!

(...nope, sorry, can't say I've completely given up the idea that he's lookin' for "Air Force One..and a Two: Hit It Boys" as his answer here...what, never saw that one or somethin'?...Heck, HBO Max shows it ALL the time...I just can't remember who plays those guys in it, that's all) ;)

The Harrison Ford film was The Nervous Wreck 1926 comedy

The musical comedy remake was 1930 Whoopee starring Eddie Cantor

Up In Arms starring Danny Kaye was a musical comedy (1944 ) also based on both films
