Yes, that's the one I was referring to of course, agree completely it's a much better film, and one of his best overall.

Oh, Lomm. How many times do these announcements about a pending remake of a classic film appear, and some of them never seem to be produced. Color me skeptical.

Anytime a character in a classic film uses a rotary dial telephone, it unfortunately seems ripe for a remake. What’s next? “Select M for Murder?”

I'm not opposed to remakes but your comment reminded of a remake of THE LETTER proposed by one of my favorite members of the TCM message boards --- THE TEXT.

I can't see Downey in the Jimmy Stewart role although obviously Downey can. He does flippant well but the story is not geared for a fast talking, flippant, "everything rolls off my back" lead.

The combination of Hitchcock, Hermann and Burks is too potent.

Agree. I'll believe it when it's released! LOL. Most of these "announcements" never get beyond the development phase..........

I'm a fan of Alfred Hitchcock and I actually like Vertigo . . . and not because I'm supposed to like it, I really do enjoy the movie.

However, one of the movie's flaws (for me at least) is that there is no spark between James Stewart and Kim Novak.

So I think a remake can work if there is an actor in the lead role who's an everyman but who's also truly hot.
Robert Downey Jr is not that actor.
We need someone like Ryan Gosling or Joseph Gordon-Levitt in the role of Scottie.

For Madeleine/Judy, I would love to see Scarlett Johansson.
