These are all great selections of music, I love it that the people here ( as was the case with the people on the old TCM boards) have such excellent and eclectic taste in music.
However, I am surprised that there seems to be no acknowledgement of the passing of Gordon Lightfoot. He was truly an outstanding songwriter. Many legendary musicians and fellow-songwriters thought so, including Bob Dylan, Harry Belafonte ( who also died very recently) and Johnny Cash.

Gordon Lightfoot wrote so many timeless songs, it's hard to pick just one to post here. But I think I'll go with one of his most popular, since I remember when it first came out. I was always hearing it on the radio, and it imprinted itself in my musical memory forever. Absolutely fantastic song, vivid lyrics and unforgettable melody.

Amy Winehouse was an amazing talent whose life was cut short too soon.

Here's a clip of her performing "You Know I'm No Good" live in Paris in 2007.

I wonder where she kept her blow?

I love Tracey Ullman.
"They Don't Know" was played during the opening and closing of her HBO series TRACEY TAKES ON.

I wish her variety series THE TRACEY ULLMAN SHOW would be released digitally, either through streaming or on DVD.
Music rights are are likely what's preventing the release. I discovered the series when it aired on Comedy Central in the 1990s and recorded the episodes on VHS. Those tapes are somewhere at my parents' house.
Music (mostly covers) was such an important part of the sketches.

Here's one of my favorite sketches "Beverly Hills Proc" where Tracey Ullman (in character as Ginny Tillman) performs "Goldfinger""

This is my go to LP on Spotify.
I played the daylights out of the original record and it is my favorite over the San Quentin album.

As we discussed years ago, missw, his masterpiece song is, imo, one of the most beautiful and heartbreaking pieces ever recorded on this earth.

Of the artists mentioned by Miss Wonderly, I’m fond of Johnny Cash, and it makes up the difference.
Gordon Lightfoot’s music has to be fantastic as his songs were covered by many other artists.
It is interesting how Gordon Lightfoot successfully covered Marty Robbins’ recording of Ribbon of Darkness. I love Marty Robbins too. I grew up with Jonny Cash music but my taste for Marty Robbins came more recently.
