For Bryher And Perdita
by H.D.

They said:
she is high and far and blind
in her high pride,
but now that my head is bowed
in sorrow, I find
she is most kind.

We have taken life, they said,
blithely, not groped in a mist
for things that are not--
are if you will, but bloodless--
why ask happiness of the dead?
and my heart bled.

Ah, could they know
how violets throw strange fire,
red and purple and gold,
how they glow
gold and purple and red
where her feet tread.

Who is H.D.? That couldn’t be that famous poet Hugh Dalton, could it? No that is Hugh Blanton, the poet for the ages. His book — A Home to Crouch In — is making its way across America

No, it's Hilda Doolittle, the even more famous poet better known as H.D.

I want to tell all you poetry people that there is a new poet on the block and he will make you bleed drops of blood on the kitchen floor.

His name is Hugh Blanton.

His book of poems is titled A Home to Crouch In.

It is published by Cajun Mutt Press.

This is a true work of genius. I ordered my copy from Amazon.

Now he’s been around. 58 years old. Been writing sh1t ever since he sat down at a desk. Couple years ago he revisited everything, edited up good everything, quit the hard booze, and lived on Hamm’s beer and potato chips. I don’t know him personally, I don’t want to know artists personally, but my guess is this fellow will become famous, he is that good.

In The World Of Henry Orient (1964) Val (Tippy Walker) tells her friend Marian (Merrie Spaeth) about a poem she wrote for her crush (Peter Sellers)

How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.
I love thee to the depth and breadth and height
My soul can reach, when feeling out of sight
For the ends of being and ideal grace.

Val says "I had a little help from Elizabeth Barrett Browning."
