We have growing issues, not as bad as San Francisco or Oakland, but we are only an hour north on a good traffic day.
If your talking about The Birds, it was filmed in Bodega Bay.
I grew up in Napa, CA. Went to school in St. Helena.
I've been in the winery used in Falcon Crest.
I spent 3 years in Arnold, CA.
Lovely if you like snow. I like snow, just not my own snow.
Not a great place if you don't drive, but a guy on a motorcycle could enjoy it.
People are leaving California and some are going to Arizona.
I recently read, "You can't spell Crazy without AZ."
Of course we all know Phoenix is a "dry heat."
But you don't live in Phoenix. So you're not crazy.
Are your motorcycle boo boos getting better?
Actually jimimac, my earlier Hitchcock movie referrence was in regard to 'Shadow of a Doubt', not 'The Birds'.

"Napa Valley"? Well then, even better I'd say! So what wasn't to like growing up there, I ask? Lovely place, and one which my wife and I last visited just a couple of years ago again.

(...and yes, you couldn't pay me enough to live down there in Phoenix...a place I think of as "A slighty smaller version of the urban spawl of Los Angeles, placed 4 hundred miles from the nearest ocean, and with temps 20 degrees hotter than L.A.'s on average as well"...nope, Phoenix holds no charms for this old SoCal boy here, dude)

You learn something new everyday. "Shadow of a Doubt." I'll just bet it needs to show on TCM one day.
My favorite town for a film location is Jamestown, CA.
If you know the Back to the Future trilogy, lightning is involved.
Well, BTTF III was filmed in part in Sonora and Jamestown. Yep, real train is part of the Railtown 1897 State Historic Park.
The train is quite famous in both TV and movies.
The set built in Jamestown was struck by lightning and burned to the ground.

I used to live in Sonora, and I actually worked in a Railtown 1897 State Park gift shop. Fun place for families to visit!

That locomotive has been in more movies and TV shows than any other, going back more than 100 years. It's probably best known to baby boomers as Hooterville's Cannonball Express seen on Petticoat Junction and Green Acres.

It has its own Wikipedia page:

There is no need to apologize. It was pertinent to the discussion of the moment.

Well, everyone should know I'm often off the rails.
I find it quite cool that sagebrush lived in Sonora and worked at the Railtown 1897 State Park gift shop.
I suppose the meme detour started with some of us watching Star Trek in B&W.
I never saw Petticoat Junction in color either.
