Blanche Fury is one of those English historical thrillers like The Man in Grey. Fury is the family's last name! I remember as being pretty good.

I like All Fall Down. What I don't like is when Angela or Brandon say Berry-Berry. One Berry is enough for me.HoldenIsHere wrote: ↑May 24th, 2024, 3:20 pmI love ALL FALL DOWN.jamesjazzguitar wrote: ↑May 24th, 2024, 1:35 pmYea, we get North by Northwest again, as well as having to hear Berry-Berry in All Fall Down.

I've never even heard of the Japanese space opera/horror flick Goke, Body Snatcher from Hell (1968), which is part of the Drive-In block, but I'm always up for one of their looney-tunes 1960's mash-ups, so I'll be there.
I too am glad to see the Constance Ford block. She and Angela Lansbury were both doing high-profile mother from hell roles around that time, so I'm glad the block includes Rome Adventure, where she got to be a sensible, free-spirited American ex-patriot in Rome who offers Suzanne Pleshette sound "motherly" advice. She was so villainous in A Summer Place that it's nice to see that other side to her as an actress.

Yea, we get North by Northwest again, as well as having to hear Berry-Berry in All Fall Down.
But the character's name is Berry-Berry, not Berry.
The actors are just being true to the writer's creation.
By the way, Evan Evans plays a role in the movie.
She's one of Berry-Berry's women/victims.

Gee, everyone knows all that. Still, to me it is annoying. Also, if you have read my POV all these years, I rarely fault actors, but instead screen writers and\or directors.HoldenIsHere wrote: ↑May 24th, 2024, 7:34 pmjamesjazzguitar wrote: ↑May 24th, 2024, 5:41 pmI like All Fall Down. If your issue was with the writing or the directing, why did you single out the actors by name (first name actually)?
Also, the verb you chose was say, which focuses on the ones who are doing the saying (the actors). Perhaps it was just a poorly thought-out sentence construction, but if your issue was the writing you could have mentioned the character names rather than the actors.

Re: July 2024 Schedule Posted, Eva Marie Saint is SOTM
I was making a joke. I'm big fans of both actors (especially Lansbury, but deWilde was one of the top 3 child\teen actors of his generation). So it wasn't poorly thought-out, but thanks for the put-down.HoldenIsHere wrote: ↑May 25th, 2024, 11:42 amUm, okay, but your comment was: "What I don't like is when Angela or Brandon say Berry-Berry."jamesjazzguitar wrote: ↑May 25th, 2024, 11:17 amGee, everyone knows all that. PS: my post about Berry-Berry was mainly for Hibi, who I believe has made similar comments.

LOL
Goke, Body Snatcher from Hell (1968) has been shown on TCM before...recorded it as a double feature with HAUSU ’77.
Well hearing it annoys me too.HoldenIsHere wrote: ↑May 24th, 2024, 7:34 pm But the character's name is Berry-Berry, not Berry.

It may have been OK in writing but just obnoxious/tiring for speaking- bet it’s use was non-negotiable with the author.
Thanks for noting Evan Evans, kind of reminds me of Glen Glenn Sound studios.
Looking her up: she was married to John Frankenheimer and I believe she is still with us!

I guess duplicative names were a thing for a hot minute? Berry Berry, Humbert Humbert

As for the use of Berry-Berry in All Falls Down: I have always assumed the duplicate first name, was a sign of affection. One name wasn't enough to show how much they loved the child, so give him duplicate first names. This love was clearly shown by the mother and remains at the end of the film, regardless of Berry-Berry actions. But the younger brother catches on that his brother isn't someone to worship and model yourself after. (de Wilde would repeat a similar younger brother role in Hud the following year). Thus, in All Falls Down I always wished that at the end, the younger brother would just call him Berry! (as a way to show he wasn't worth two Berries).

Their characters were taken hostage by Bonnie and Clyde,
