What's the best use of "Best song" in a movie
Re: What's the best use of "Best song" in a movie
I think I've seen Neptune's Daughter. Does anyone know the context in which "Baby, it's cold outside" is played? I have never seen The Caddy, but personally I've always found "That's Amore" a very irritating song. Alice in Wonderland is the most underrated of Disney's animated feature films, and "The Unbirthday Song" is both underrated and unwisely unnominated.

How often does TCM show A Hole in the Head, because I've never seen it, and "High Hopes" is the most memorable of the oscar nominated songs for the rest of the fifties. Another question about fifties nominees: were none of the songs in the Elvis movies eligible to be nominated, or did the Academy just ignore them?

Looking over the first half of the sixties, one wonders why the Beatles weren't nominated for any of their songs in 1964 or 1965? Did they not meet the specifically made for the movie requirement, or did the Academy just not like them? I don't know if I've ever heard "The Shadow of Your Smile," but "I Will Wait for You" is played to devastating effect in The Umbrellas of Cherbourg and may actually be the answer to this thread's question. And it's also used in devastating effect in Futurama:
