back at Mank for all the jokes Mank makes about Eddie when he's doing
his outro right before Noir Alley. Some are funny, some not so much.
Eddie Muller knows his stuff but his intros are sooooo long!

When we watch a Noir Alley movie, the sweetie will often make a "get on with it" gesture during a Muller intro.

(my favorite one is Rob's nightmare about the aliens and walnuts, lol)
That's a great episode as well.

And here's the Empress Carlotta Necklace episode...

I've never seen that episode. Rob's mother was played by Carol Veazie, she of the famous line, in perhaps her best-known role: "Mother of Jefferson Davis, she's passing the fox!"

And here's the "real" Empress Carlota, with one of her many necklaces:

No doubt that Eduardo knows his noir. I think they used to be a few minutes
longer, but now they generally seem to run for five minutes. He writes his
own intros and outros but he only has to do it once a week, where most of
the other hosts have a much heavier work load.

Donuts, hamburgers, hot dogs, chop suey joints and red-checkered table clothed Southern Italian restaurants seemed to be the main source of food in 1930's and early (pre-WWII) 1940's movies. Washed down with lots of coffee.

I especially liked dunking donuts lesson from Clark Gable in It Happened One Night (1934)

Depression-era donuts!

Called "sinkers" back then.

Toward the end of Now, Voyager, Charlotte Vale (Bette Davis) says to Tina (Janis Wilson): "June (Bonita Granville) has made some very special canapés for you."

What are those canapés? Are there recipes? I've been wondering about that for years.
