The Academy to honor Jimmy Stewart

Post by Lzcutter »

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is having a salute to James "Jimmy" Stewart next month to honor his centennial birthday.

If you live in Los Angeles or will be visiting our fair City of the Angels on June 12th, get your tickets now.

There will be a roundtable discussion regarding Stewart's career and panelists include: Shirley Jones, Ann Rutherford, Carroll Baker and Stewart's daughters Kelly Stewart Harcourt and Judy Stewart.

As part of the evening, film clips from Stewart's films will be shown.

As part of the Salute to Stewart, the UCLA Film and Television Archive will be presenting some of Stewart's best films at the Billy Wilder Theater in Westwood beginning this Saturday.

I hope that you'll post a report about this event if you go, Lynn.

The community of Indiana, PA, where Jimmy Stewart hailed from is having a year long celebration of the actor's centennial, which you can read about here. I met a lady who attended the events there surrounding the anniversary of his birth last week. She was thrilled to report that she'd met and been charmed by Mr. Stewart's twin daughters, Kelly and Judy at the celebration.
