The Bad news for all you Midsomer Murder viewers in the U.S is John Nettles has retired from the role. The good news is that there is enough episodes in the can to carry over to 2011.
Depending on your point of view there may be more good news, or bad as the case maybe. Though Nettles as gone, the show will continue.
This has happened in the past with Lewis taking over from Morse, or in the case of Taggart, a new team helping Taggart's former female side-kick Sargeant Jackie Reid
However, I don't think they'll be promoting Troy or anyone else to take the lead. Several names have been suggested to take over from Nettles, including Vera Drake's Phil Davies and my own choice, a brilliant actress called Sarah Lancashire

I have only begun to watch this series and I very much like Mr. Nettles. I guess everyone at some point feels it is time to take a break but I'll have plenty to watch for some time.
