Re: *CANDIDS*
Clark Gable reminds me of Doug Fairbanks in these shots, perhaps it's the tan as well as the wife

Ooh! Evelyn Varden, one of my favorite things regarding Night of the Hunter and The Bad Seed. Thanks for posting Mongo!
Re: *CANDIDS*
CCfan, Gable was in makeup for the movie "Across the Wide Missouri" (1951).
Donna, I too am a big Evelyn Varden fan. She was a hoot.

What's wrong here?
Two key characters are not listed on this poster. Louise Beavers and Fredi Washington.
Yet the names of Baby Jane, Henry Armetta and Alan Hale appear although they only
were in the movie for a matter of minutes. Shame on Universal Studios.

Re: *CANDIDS*
It's a cool poster, but gosh I hated the film. It's far more offensive to me than The Birth of a Nation. The Sirk remake is glorious though.

Re: *CANDIDS*
I can't remember Sirk's version that well, I remember it being glorious in it's technicolor. Was the message and situation softened by Sirk? Admittedly some of Imitation of Life are very difficult to swallow, like BOAN.myrnaloyisdope wrote:It's a cool poster, but gosh I hated the film.
