And by the way, thank you, mongo, for posting these birthday photos. I'm enjoying them!

Re: *CANDIDS*
Thank you for this information, mongo. De Lacy had such an unforgettable face, with those crystal blue eyes--never cold, but somehow distant, fragile, touching. I'm so glad he had a happy life after leaving the silver screen.mongoII wrote:Carrie, the silent screen child star lost his boyish charm by his early teens and retired from the screen in the early 1930s.

Re: *CANDIDS*
Robards definitely had better camera appeal before losing most of his upper lip in that car collision.

Lovely shot of Viv Vance. James Best is strikingly handsome, though I don't remember ever seeing him.mongoII wrote:

Last night I flew 'cross country on one of United's "Premiere Service" flights. On the PS flights they give you a media player and you can choose from around 24 movies to watch. None of the menu items interested me (At 17 anyone?), so I pulled out my portable DVD player and watched Broadway Rhythm and Two Girls and a Sailor. A few people tapped me on the shoulder, "Which movie is that? I want to watch it too." The latter film features a thin thread of story that bastes together a dazzling revue of talented performers. Gracie was one of them. I love this effervescent gal and in this flick she performs the "Concerto for Index Finger". What fun! She makes a journey so much shorter.
Re: *CANDIDS*
Klondike, it's amazing how much Robards looked like Bogart. Perhap's it's why Bacall was attracted to him.
Moraldo, you may recall James Best later in his career as Sheriff Rosco Coltrane on TVs "The Dukes of Hazzard".
No doubt that Gracie Allen was a sweetheart.

Joe, this lovely photo is the culmination of the emotional drama these people went through to be able to become the family we see here. Perhaps you'd like to give a little info on the Kovacs family?mongoII wrote:

Judith, I'll gather up some info and post it later on today. No doubt that Kovacs eventually gave Adams a run for her money.
