Re: NEW POLL! The SSO Favorite Director
No doubt I'll wake up in the middle of the night and say, "Oh, man! I should have said..." I tried like crazy to remember. Even searched a little. But I'm sure I forgot somebody.
Re: NEW POLL! The SSO Favorite Director
ChiO I left it purposely vague because while there are some directors I like better than others... there are others who are equal in my estimation. They may be completely different people and make totally different movies, but to say that, for instance, Ernest Lubitsch or Alfred Hitchcock is the *better* director... can't do it.
I guess that means random.

Paula -
I went totally with "favorite" and all that means is, "I like this one better than that one, right this moment." That way, I didn't have to feel too bad about my rankings. Heck, there is no way that some of my picks would end up above others, in any ranking of how "great" they are.

I just can't wait for the "games" to begins! It's might be chaotic!

As JF said, it is indeed "Favorite Director", not X is better than Y. But unranked order is perfectly fine -- some folks don't like to play favorites. We'll give each a value of "8" for determining the seedings for Round 1.

LzCutter,
Looks like I have more in common with you than anybody else. Do you like pina colladas?
Cinemaven,
I'd sit at the feet of any one of them
Their wives might get the wrong idea!

Re: NEW POLL! The SSO Favorite Director
The nomination process is complete and the votes have been tabulated. Twenty-two (22) nominating petitions were submitted and one hundred twenty-one (121 - Whew!) directors were nominated.
In order to prevent dreary run-offs at this early stage, when there was a tie, the director more often listed was given the benefit. If there was still a tie, a coin was flipped. Further detail on voting will be posted later today (for those who scour such minutiae and find it useful in their handicapping endeavors). Might you find as many surprises as I did?
All SSO members can participate in the following rounds, even if you did not submit a nominating petition.
Quiet on the set! Camera! Action!

This should appear in my initial post for each Round 1 thread: "Voting ends on Monday, Oct. 3, at the time this was posted."
Then, in the voting area, appears the following: "Poll runs till Mon Oct 03, 2011 X:XX am"
In the case of "#1 & #32", which was the first one I posted, it is 7:52 am CST, and in the case of "#16 & #17", which was the last one I posted, it is 8:47 am CST. All the others fall in-between.
