I believe that Sunday was also Anthony Mann 's birthday. He made a Noir and a Western, or two.

The beautiful Susan Hayward actually died in 1975. She suffered brain cancer which was attributed to her work on the movie The Conqueror (1956),filmed at a site in Utah where radioactive toxins were present. Other actors in the movie, John Wayne, Agnes Moorhead, John Hoyt, Pedro Amendariz, and Dick Powell all died of cancer.

Thanks for the correction, Fossy. It would have been nice if Hayward did live to 2010 like Lena Horne did.

Happy Birthday to Charles Laughton! Thanks for the cute photo, PT!
Don Beddoe and Charles Laughton worked together on Night of the Hunter...
Joe, the handstand on Moss Hart is adorable! I love the look on Hart's face.

Whenever I see Ken Curtis as "himself", it's so hard to picture him as Festus. Says a lot for Ken's talents as an actor.
Watch him in THE ALAMO then tune into an episode of GUNSMOKE. Night and day in character and performance.
BTW: Kinda reminds me a bit of Gene Autry in that photo, Joe.

I love that picture of John Wayne on the Searchers Set and how in the world I miss this beauty - ESTELITA RODRIGUEZ (1928 - 1966) ... Estelita sure looks alot like Hedy Lamarr ... A comparison and how come I never heard of her?
