Vienna, She is actually with Christopher Lee. I guess in Raft's case the suit makes the man.

Robert Jr. resembled his father all the way, but I can see in Michael his mother's (Jennifer Jones) features.

Larry, I remember Georgie Jessel, and there is a slight resemblance.
No doubt that Darcel was stacked.

I don't think I have ever seen a photo of Bogart looking so relaxed and happy--and Ms. Bacall looks as though she's walking on air as well. I guess he knew he was one very lucky man.

Thanks for sharing that unusual image, Joe!

There was no info on this image. Looks like it's Christmas and a cheery
Cary Grant may be in the hospital.
Also looks like his wife Virginia Cherrill is with him.

Joe, there are reports in a couple of Cary Grant bios that the actor was hospitalized in the UK in December, 1933 just after he learned from his father that his mother was alive. Virginia Cherrill had accompanied him to his homeland just before they married in London in Feb. 1934. During this trip, Grant saw his father for the first time in 15 years in December, when the older man broke the shattering news to his son. He then met his mother in the asylum where she had been incarcerated since he was a small boy (when he had been told she was dead). Some say that Grant was hospitalized for treatment of an old injury during this period in London. Others speculated that the shock of these familial revelations may have sent the man into an emotional tailspin that led to his hospitalization.

I do not think that this photo is related to the October, 1934 incident when Grant was briefly hospitalized for over-indulging in alcohol (according to most sources. A few think he may have been stressed by his marital strife with Cherrill, leading to a suicide attempt). In any case, years later, Grant apologized to Cherrill for his behavior during their brief marriage.

Moira, thanks for shedding some light on the Grant image, although sad. I appreciate it.

It is sad, Joe--until I started to think about what a remarkable person Cary Grant truly was--he came from nothing. He had to create his own life without any real help from a father or mother. He should have lived and died in obscurity in Bristol in a dead end life, an "Ernie Mott" figure like millions of other. But even though he was so unequipped to cope with life due to that lack of grounding what does he do?

He becomes the quintessence of masculine grace and elegance on-screen, cheering about a billion people in his own lifetime and beyond with his abilities as a comic and dramatic actor and impressing those who meet him in real life. Almost three decades after he left us, the very sight of him still evokes a smile from people all over the world. I am sorry for any private pain he experienced, but he more than overcame it. What an example he was for each of us off-screen as well as on.
