I think Beowulf though I doubt what you are looking. In the original The hero Beowulf slays a monster that has plagued the land by slicing off an arm, effectively killing the beast and "saving the day." But I'm not sure that any of the several movies of this actually shows the hero hold up the arm. Some movies use the title Beowulf and then make up their own story.

I'm pretty sure the correct answer is CLASH OF THE TITANS, but ziggy, can you confirm?

It is! My grandmother took me to see Kiss Me Deadly when I was five. That scene terrified me. Looking at it today, it's still scares me.
