Ha! If there's one situation I like better than "top down", it's no bottoms! :D

What . . ? This thread is about romance, right?

And yes, I too miss the cents key . . my wife says I never have enought cents, especially the good kind!

And here - I'll even put us back on topic:

The Sandpiper - a very romantic film, easily Dick & Liz's most romantic, entirely beautiful & poignant, and heartachingly sad at the end.

SPOILER - - - - - - - - - - - - -
(I sure couldn't have been strong enough to drive away down the PCH, & voluntarily leave the winsomely, awesomely beautiful Violet Eyed One sighing & lonely on that beach . . especially to the strains of "Shadow of Your Smile"!)

Miss G, how did I miss Roman Holiday, A Portrait of Jennie and un Homme et un Femme? Thanks for reminding me.

I can see why you like Angel and the Badman, it's romantic, I rarely find John Wayne a romanticd figure but you've reminded me that I found him rather dashing and romantic in another film with Maureen O'Hara, one of the trilogy, it escapes me.

I forgot some favorite Cary Grant movies

The Philadelphia Story
Bringing up Baby
His Girl Friday
The Awful Truth
My Favorite Wife

and

Silk Stockings, just for Nancy.

Although I have not seen HOLD BACK THE DAWN, I do like Mitchell Leisen, so don't roll those googly eyes at me, young lady. What's more romantic than a boy's love for a girl and a gun? And a girl's love of thrills, money...and a gun? Love doesn't have to be icky to be romantic (hope Hallmark doesn't steal that one).

I don't think you're in any danger of being plagiarized on that one! (Thanks for the 'young lady' bit...)

I can't really think of any of my favorite classic romantic movies that have not been named. I believe Random Harvest is way up there in the top 5. I have to admit however that I absolutely love the ending of Pretty Woman, with Gere climbing the outside fire escape stair when he is afraid of heights. So am I, so I know what either courage or love it took. And finally, I found the recent Sandra Bullock/Keannu Reeves The Lake House extremely romantic. I practically chewed off all my nails during that mailbox scene in the last few minutes wondering if it was going to work.

Youse :D guys are just too much. I actually cried when reviewing some of your selections in my mind. I love romantic movies as long as they do not end in a death.

My favorite more current romantic movies are:

The Holiday (2007) Cameron Diaz, Kate Winslet, Jude Law, Jack Black. I loved this movie and watched it over 10 times.

Nights in Rodanth (2008) Richard Gere, Diane Lane. A wonderful love story no one should miss.

The Ambassador's Daughter (1956) Olivia DeHavilland, John Forsyth, Myrna Loy. A plauseable love affair. I loved it

Many more too numerous to mention but I like love stories to build throughout the movie and A walk In The Clouds is one of my favorites.
