Re: Who Are Your Screen Parents?
Thank you ma'am. I'd reveal my whole family tree (my aunts, uncles, grand parents and cousins) are made of a whole racially diverse Benetton color scheme. But before I tackle that...I know I must tackle writing about "NO ORCHIDS FOR MISS BLANDISH." Here's a snippet...
NO ORCHIDS FOR MISS BLANDISH
"I never count my chickens before their necks.”
WHEW!! What a tough little movie “No Orchids for Miss Blandish” is. I have never even heard of this film before, so I’m very grateful for the heads up. But I gotta tell ya (and I’m not going to explain this very well), this movie felt strange to me. It felt like a..a clone. I felt like I was watching someone who studied “The Gangster Film” genre, took all its ingredients and made a movie of the mix.
It felt like a movie once removed.
I told you I wouldn’t be able to be coherent.
The Grissom gang is a wonderful motley ‘crue’ of Hollywood gangster-types. Maybe that’s it –everyone is A Type. There’s the:
* The Hot-headed Psycho who’s already been described as having a Leo Gorcey type dialect. He’ll bash you in the head as soon as look at’cha.
* The Small-Time Weasly Hood who gives up concessions with every weasly, pitiful, squealy yelp. He looked like he was a man zombified by atomic poisoning.
* The Mentally-Challenged Stoogie Guy who breaks under pressure, everyone is his boss and can smack him around…even the newspaper hound. Stoogie looks like he didn’t have an STD treated in time. He breathes through his nose.
And then there is....------
Oh wait...WHAT does this have to do with my cinematic family tree? Uhmmmm...er.....oh, Jack LaRue is one of my long lost cousins.
(More in the appropriate thread...)

I'm already into it - don't wait too long!
Jack LaRue - a long lost cousin ?.... OK. Sure. I believe that.... Like Tony Barrett was Helen Walker's cousin in Impact....

Can't wait for the rest of the story on Blandish and company!
Maybe we should all add a list of...
Cousins No One Talks About:
Jack Elam, Timothy Carey, Henry Kulky, Lon Chaney, Jr.

Add Dwight Frye to the list of cousins NOTA.

Now, Chris, you needn't be so critictal!
The Boltnecks are fine, upstanding people [of Czech descent, I believe] - a little stiff-necked, but some of my best friends are conservatives!
Re: Who Are Your Screen Parents?
Moira, I use to look more like my dad Harpo Marx since I had a head full of curls, and I didn't talk much.

Re: Who Are Your Screen Parents?
I think Harpo Marx would have been the perfect dad, Mongo! Great choice.
