I can't remember - who was the blind detective, and who was the senior Appalachian detective?

Don't forget the lovely-rich-industialist-amateur-sleuth-couple detectives and their faithful sidekick Max.
I'm blanking on the Armenian detective.

The blind one, if It is the correct one, was a show called "Longstreet." It starred James Franciscus. It wasn't on but maybe two years. "Barnaby Jones" for the Appalachian detective? It certainly wasn't set there but with Buddy Ebsen it might work.
And think of the 80's detectives.

And how could I have forgotten our Pueblo Tribal investigator: "Nakia"

I thought the Armenian was Kojak...but wouldn't the name have to end in ian?
How about the other beautiful couple with a gravel voiced sidekick - MacMillan and Wife?

Re: WHAT FILMS HAVE YOU SEEN LATELY?
Didn't the Armenian Mannix guy do another police/detective show, where he used his real surname, which was Ohanian? It's floating around in my mind somewhere. Somebody in that time period that time played a character called Ohanian.
Re: WHAT FILMS HAVE YOU SEEN LATELY?
Ahh, good ol' Theo Kojak - "Who loves ya, Baby!" - not Armenian, but something more mysterious: a Greek American whose surname ends in neither an s, nor a vowel!JackFavell wrote:I thought the Armenian was Kojak...but wouldn't the name have to end in ian?
Equally rare, I guess, was the character of Mannix - some Armenian names do end in x, but by far the commoner suffix is indeed -ian.
(Stranger still is that apparently the actor, Mike Connors, was Armenian as well!)
Wasn't sure if they qualified, as they were: a) a high-ranking police officer, & b) an extremely talented amateur.JackFavell wrote: How about the other beautiful couple with a gravel voiced sidekick - MacMillan and Wife?

Did they have a gravel voiced sidekick, or are you thinking of Hart to Hart with the dulcet tones of Lionel Stander?JackF wrote:

Hart to Hart had Lionel Stander, MacMillan and Wife had Nancy Walker.
It's pretty much the same thing.

Kojak was a cop anyway so I wouldn't include him.JackFavell wrote:I thought the Armenian was Kojak...but wouldn't the name have to end in ian?
Then there was "Charlie's Angels." A most unusual group of private detectives. What happens when Charlie's Angels meet Magnum?
David Janson did a show called "O'Hara." (Unsure if cop or PI.) I am not sure about Mike Connors in another show.

Re: WHAT FILMS HAVE YOU SEEN LATELY?
OK - I think I've got it straight now. Mike Connors, whose real surname was Ohanian, was in a made for TV movie in the mid-70s which was intended as a pilot for a new series -- he was an ex-cop called Ohanian who ran a charter boat company or something. His wife had been murdered and he was always on the lookout for the killer(s). The movie is known as The Killer Who Wouldn't Die, but was also marketed as Ohanian. Doesn't look as though changing his name helped Mannix very much.

Was Nancy Walker in that? Or am I confusing her with Lionel Stander again? Then there was "Charlie's Angels." A most unusual group of private detectives.

Walker had only a brief stint in Charlie's Angels between Shelly Hack and Tanya Roberts. Even in the 70s, though the FCC had an issue with her character, Rosie, the quicker picker-upper.ChiO wrote:Was Nancy Walker in that??Then there was "Charlie's Angels."
