Hi,
Poor Ann Sheridan...
To be forgotten and ignored like that - and her a great star, who entertained America and the world so well....
Wouldn't it have been naughty if she were put into that Egyptian sarcophagus she ended up in in "The Man Who Came to Dinner"!!!!!!!
Aren't I a scamp!!

In November 1972, while today's birthday boy Luis Buñuel was visiting Los Angeles to present his film
The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie at the film festival, George Cukor hosted a luncheon for him, with some of his friends.
[John Ford was also at the luncheon, but left early due to illness.]

Frye's strong resemblance to former Secretary of War Newton D. Baker helped land a role in the biopic "Wilson" (1944), based on the life of U.S. President Woodrow Wilson, but he died of a heart attack while riding on a bus in Hollywood a few days before filming was to have begun. He was interred in Glendale's Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Glendale.

Hi Joe,
Great glamour shot of Marjorie Main.
Possibly the best 'scene stealer' in movie history - Humphrey Bogart, Clark gable, Judy Garland, Eugene Pallette, Norma Shearer, Greer Garson and even Gary Cooper all had to scramble for the camera and the microphone, while Marjorie just sat or stood there and bellowed out her lines!!!!!!
I don't know if she ever made a movie with Miriam Hopkins, but it would be fun to see who won whatever scene(s) they did together!!!!

Today's birthday boy
Anthony Burgess admires a stack of his books.
In addition to writing the scripts for several telefilms and mini-series in the 1970s and '80s, his novel "A Clockwork Orange" has transferred successfully to the silver screen.
