SPOILER KINDA SORTa BUT NOT REALLY

I've been trying FOR YEARS to track down the greatest episode of DATELINE that I can recall, it's from the late 1990's I think.

**details recalled from my 30 year old memory, which is not perfect.

it's about a series of robberies that happened in the winter in a small northern town.

and in the snow, they found one set of footprints and lots of wheelbarrow tracks.

and one night a breaking and entering turned into murder when a beloved town resident walked in on the burglar and was shot dead by them.

and an investigation gets underway...

and in the end it is revealed that the burglaries and murder were committed by two YOUNG MEN who were BROTHERS, one of whom (THE MASTERMIND) was PARALIZED AND IN A WHEELCHAIR- they had been like THE DOMINICK AND EUGENE of the town- like seriously, BERT AND ERNIE- JUST LOCAL HEROES ALL THE WAY.

SO...

They weren't wheelbarrow tracks.

They were wheelchair tracks.

it was an amazing 45 minutes of TV and I have never been able to find it again....

**or seen the story told ANYWHERE else by any other true crime show.

Yeah, I hadn't thought of that. I watched that too.
Once upon a time one couldn't avoid Cops. Now it seems to have
disappeared, which is okay with me. I always enjoyed the totally blitzed drunks.
I think the audience migrated to YouTube. You can see thousands of arrest & traffic stop videos there, and from both viewpoints: crazy suspects and crazy cops.

ALTERNATE THEORY: THE SHOW MIGRATED BEYOND THE SCREEN AND INTO THE LIVES OF THE AUDIENCE.

I have in the last 2-3 years alone personally witnessed numerous "real life theater" episodes- like COPS IN THE PARK- play out RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME IN ACTUAL LIFE.

Your post jogged my memory! I vaguely remember that case.

I meant that I watched Spellbound, but I do remember those cop shows!

They Met In Bombay (1941) TCM 6/10

Two jewel thieves (Clark Gable and Rosalind Russell) fall in love.

Hi, I have been locked out of my account since I got a new laptop but finally was able to get back in. So I saw this about a month ago on TCM, first time viewing. It started off as romantic comedy but later turned into a serious war film. Peter Lorre plays a Chinese captain of a cargo ship. It doesn't all work but the stars keep it watchable.

Of course there are those episodes where the gals dispatch their fellas in much the same manner. One in particular stands out -- a newlywed shoves hubby out of their apartment window (top floor of a high-rise), then claims it was an accident. The cops don't buy it. She later takes her own life in jail.
It's always satisfying to see the people get their just desserts in the end, but sometimes they get off. So many of the cases are really stupid. Did they really think they'd get away with it???

Yeah, the hiking thing is a common plot. They go off on a trip to rekindle their marriage and wifey goes over a cliff!

There are times I don't always agree with the guilty verdict (in that I don't think the prosecution proved their case). It's a crap shoot and money talks.

THERE WAS ONE DATELINE where the couple went hiking and the wife "posed for a pic" and "fell" off the cliffside and they actually found a footprint on her a** at the bottom of the canyon.

(Another 45 minutes of viewing time well-spent.)

(no sarcasm)

HAVE NOT BEEN WATCHING HARDLY ANY ID OR TRUE CRIME

...not entirely looking to derail the conversation, but I have gotten to a point where IF VIEWING COMMERCIALS IS REQUIRED TO VIEW SOMETHING, I WILL NOT DO IT.

I pay for youtube premium and there are no ads and it has spoiled me.

and i get into A RAGE AT MODERN ADVERTISING IT INFURIATES ME SO MUCH.

Advertising, I know, is a "necessary evil"- but does it have to be SO ****ING AWWWWWWWWWWFUL???????????????!!!!
