Katy Jurado. I had never looked up her catalog of films. A Mexican actress, brought into some classic American films, and stayed working up to her death. I'm going to have to find more of her later work.

Every day, there are treasures delivered in this thread. Thanks!

Hi,

You are absolutely right - everyday there are treasures revealed on this thread.
It is always the first one I go to on any given day; and usually there's someone I get a 'brain jolt' on and remember "long ago & far away"!!!

Thanks Joe; truth be told - - you are the real treasure for doing this and bringing these past and sometimes forgotten treasures to us!!

Cheers,
Larry

Eliot Reid is still with us, at nintey! He was a good friend of Agnes Moorehead, they worked together back in radio days, on such series as The March of Time, Cavalcade of America, and Mercury Theater on the Air, and remained friends for the rest of her life. Charles Tranberg interviewed Eliot Reid several years ago for her biography.

So many of these talented people played many roles, yet I identify them by one. There's Elliot Reid, and I think, "Ah, Ernie Malone!" (Gentlemen Prefer Blondes).

Back up a minute folks. . . . I've made a lot of jokes and comments about how Cary Grant always looked so suave and debonair on screen, nearly always in a three piece business suit, and rarely in sport clothes, but off screen Helping Hedda Hopper move in a double-breasted suit? What?)(^&%$#?? Am I the only one who caught that, or thought it was unusual?

Also, referring to that photo of Stewart, Cagney and Welles - were they appearing in a movie together? They all seem to be in costume though Welles is disheveled which makes it seem like a costume?

Anne, the three actors were all making a movie at the same time at Universal.
James Stewart in "Night Passage", James Cagney in "Man of a Thousand Faces" and Orson Welles in "Man in the Shadows".

As far as Cary Grant is concerned, as long as he had no socks on it was cool to help Hedda move.

Cary Grant always wore very long socks presumably kept up by garters, he was so pernickety about the way he dressed, so very fussy and correct, he made sure he never flashed a bit of leg from over the top of his socks. So looking back at that picture, I think it's his socks, he might be barefoot but he looks great either way.

I like the picture of Greta untouched by MGM. Her gaze is very different to the gaze we see from the pictures at MGM.

A birthday missed and I couldn't care less actually, is Jim Carrey, (48 today). Some of his movies are okay, but his standup is too gross for me.
