I've got several conflicts about Carrey's work as well. I'm uncertain what his status will be in a hundred years. As we're nearing hundred-year anniversaries of many film careers in this next decade or so, I've never doubted their longevity. I can't say that about too many contemporary stars, though. I have criticisms and doubts about The Studio System but they turned out a large number of memorable personalities on a scale that today - with so many more actors - doesn't match. Or hasn't. "Maybe next year!"

I imagine he'll be remembered the way many think of Jerry Lewis today. His supporters will bring up his more respectable efforts (e.g., The Truman Show), and the remainder will wonder what France sees in him...

Anne, regarding birthdays I usually list the vintage stars from the silents to the early 1960s, with few exceptions.

I think Jim Carrey is a talented actor.

Mongo:

I understand and wouldn't intrude on your wonderful thread for the world, except to wish my girl, Dolly Parton, a happy 64th, she's one year younger than me.

Anne, Dolly is a hoot and I love her. She is celebrated all over the place today as should be, whereas hardly any of the stars I listed are barely remembered.

Hi,

Ironic that Natacha Rambova and Anthony Dexter should be born on the same day...

I'm sure someone on this board will find that interesting!!! (Rudyfan??)....
