Ohhh...the wonders of YouTube!

Last night I went to The Hideout to see Robbie Fulks present a show
entitled "I Heart VU." Not disappointed (well...maybe...too few tunes
from the first two LPs, but I quibble). Then, lo and behold, from
last night's concert:

Where's The Hide-out, Chio? I don't remember that place! I don't usually do You Tube. But I HAD to find out if "There She Goes" was the adorable Paul Revere and The Raiders tune I loved so many years ago. It's not.

Where's The Hide-out, Chio?
Red, it's on Wabansia (1st street north of North Ave), 1/2 block east of Elston Ave. An former Old Man's dive in an industrial area (yes, such does still exist on the North Side) that a few years ago became a Middle Age hipster bar (of course, I'm no longer middle aged, and never was a hipster). Robbie Fulks plays every Monday night. Alejandro Escovedo shows up when in town. Jon Langford, Sally Timms, Neko Case, etc. are frequenters. The Portlandia cast (Fred Armisen used to hang here when he lived in Chicago) will be putting on a show tomorrow night.

It is the one place I'd be sure to take a visitor of The City on the Lake.
