Baker or Burton
Re: Baker or Burton
Dalton was well cast as Bond. A good representation of the author's image, his quiet hardness played well. The two movies were also a cut above most of the non-Connery efforts. A tad ridiculous (Wayne Newton as a bad guy?), but more grounded than the stuff that immediately preceeded and followed.
I've heard there's been a turn for the better with CASINO ROYALE and the likes. But I've given up. If I want James Bond, I'll watch DOCTOR NO again!

Re: Baker or Burton
Dalton was quite a good, intensely young and wild Heathcliff in 1970 with Anna Calder Marshall in Wuthering Heights too.

No wonder Vanessa Redgrave fancied him and Franco Nero...how many hunks does one woman deserve? Fellow actor John Rhys-Davies worked with him on stage at the RSC and in The Living Daylights. He reportedly commented that even in the mid-'60s, girls got as close to the stage as possible when he appeared in plays. I think that their critical faculties might have been less acute than that of Kingrat when he saw him as Romeo.![Embarassed ](./images/smilies/icon_redface.gif)

He said hardness
JackFavell, I don't think you have a firm grasp of the situation. The point of this discussion is to penetrate the deeper meaning of film. To examine the thrust of the story; the pulsating pace that hammers it in. An actor such as Dalton has a body of work. We look at that body and see the taut, glistening way it speaks to us. It fills us with gratification. We wrap ourselves around it and welcome it into our souls. And it's good. So good. So...

Credibility...shredibility. I hope everyone here is all about good clean fun and sharing a love of movies. If not, they can go write for the Cahiers du Cinema if they're all that. Me? I aspire to MAD Magazine!
Now where's that danged cigarette!!!

In college, the editor of our school paper was asked about his career plans. He said, "All I really want to be is a farmer. That's what my family does." That's humility!
