Hi Theresa,

I hope I'm spelling your name correctly.... I've seen it spelled without the 'h' on the board, so am going with rather than without in the hope that's right!!!!!

Like your list overall.
Agree 100% with Doris Day, Joan Blondell, Lana Turner, Claire Trevor and Alice Faye.
The only ones I've never cared for are Jean Harlow and Ginger Rogers; don't know why but no interest there....

Larry

Thanks for the Richard Basehart photos!

And Marilyn is a given. I didn't even think I HAD to mention her.

I also forgot Jean Seberg and Lee Remick - big slip-ups on my part.

Let me finally ask this. What's the etiquette here at the Oasis...are first names used here? I've alternately seen people's nom de plume on the board...and then I've seen folks referred to by their actual name. Is it on a person by person basis or just a carte blanche thing. Thanx.

Signed,

Clueless in New York City.

To respond to your post it's so wild to me when I hear guys don't care for Harlow.(Not a lot of guys, but I have heard it). Tell me, what don't you dig about her. Thanx.

I'll tell you if my name has an "H" or not after I hear from you or anyone on the name thaang.

It is really as you wish. I am fine with it and even have my name in my signature. I have checked with others and when they approve I'll use it. I know at TCM you didn't want it used so I didn't here. Say the word and we'll act accordingly.

I will say that we have never really had the problem that TCM has and have a more laid back and close knit group so it is more common to use a real name, though not in every case.

You're welcome for Basehart. But riddle me this...how the heck did he get cast for "La Strada"? As for Marilyn, I just need a brick wall to fall on me. I didn't want to assume. Lastly one fickle personal question: you threw over CALLEIA for Sam Levene?? How come? Not that anything's wrong with that... (I love Sam in "Crossfire" and "The Killers").

Anne Francis....Anne Francis. There's really nothing I can say.

he said he liked the special effects, too.

Yes, the effects provided by Ms. Francis were quite special!

Thanx for your take on it. Well, when in Rome...

They call me Ishmael. But here at the Oasis, you can call me Theresa.

I love your list Cinemaven/Theresa, you like Doris best in Love Me or Leave Me too, I thought I was the only one, it's by far my favourite. I haven't seen Marilyn's Niagra yet, a terrible oversight as I love her so.

As for names, I'll answer to anything, my name's Alison. It takes me ages to address people by their real names because I have a shocking memory, I dread addressing the wrong person with the wrong name.

Joe and I are on a break.... I didn't want folks to get sick of him (as if they already haven't). I found that picture of Sam on a quest for MORE CALLEIA pics - they were both in After the Thin Man together. I kept going back to it, so I finally snagged it for my very own. I adore Sam Levene, almost as much as Joe, but in a less passionate, more friendly way.

Oh, and he showed up yesterday in The Killers and Brute Force. Oh, poor Louis, inmate #7033! Faithful to the end. He never ratted.
