Yes I remember that. Didn't Barrymore try to make the moves on young Mary.

I always find the movie Midnight quite poignant, knowing that Mary and JB were former lovers. They have a couple of tiny scenes together that are very moving.

Thanxx for those tips too, Feaito. Who are your three biggest silent screen crushes?
feaito wrote:...Biggest crushes? Corinne Griffith for sure is on the top of the list. Evil and exotic Myrna Loy would be another crush and, currently, lovely Esther Ralston. Betty Bronson is another dish.
Corinne Griffith who is featured in posts above is lovely.

MYRNA LOY: Evil & Exotic...remember when - and how she ever broke out of that, I'll never know:

BETTY BRONSON: A dish. Yes, she is a cute little pixie...and she looks very sweet as a mature woman:

But I'm with you all the way here, Feaito. Hands down - ESTHER RALSTON:

John Barrymore was quite popular with his young costars. I think he had Camilla Horn too. John Barrymore needed talkies though, he's an actor who needs to be heard.

Some more favourites Billie Dove, Dorothy Sebastian, Norma Shearer, Alice Terry, Mae Marsh.
Failure is unimportant. It takes courage to make a fool of yourself - Charlie Chaplin

Wow  Thanks for the gorgeous pictures "La Mavenllouss" (paraphrasing Hedy Lamarr's nickname "Lamarrvellous", because you are indeed quite marvellous  )

I wish you could post a pix of Betty Bronson in "A Kiss for Cinderella" (1925) in which she looks truly gorgeous.

As for Esther, thanks for the link to her obituary. I'll watch the clip at home, because here the access is restricted...

Alice Terry is just beautiful, delicate and feminine.

Dorothy Sebastian is about the most photogenic star I've ever seen, there are tons of photos of her on the net.

Fer, I have a couple of photos from A Kiss For Cinderella, I'll post if you like. They are quite hard to find (sorry for the one marked in newspaperman's pencil for editing). There is one here that is either from something else, or a publicity shot, but her hair is the same length and I think it's the most beautiful of her photos.

Who is giving Keaton the Hemlich Maneuver??? ( She's about to get sued! )

Those pictures of Betty Bronson are adorable. ( The fairy godmother is Esther Ralston. ) Bronson makes me think of Jennifer Beals and Lillian Gish. ( I can't explain it folks. )

well, it's kind of hard sometimes with silent stars, they all have a certain look, kind of like how everyone was trying to copy Garbo at one point, or Hedy LaMarr later on? Well, anyway, part of it is just poring over old pictures all the time. The other part of it is knowing that she worked with Buster in 1929 (and also had an affair with him I think.
