Yup, it's part of the house used in Hitchcock's "Shadow of a Doubt" where Uncle Charlie was a guest. The magic of movies.

I have a love/hate relationship with those photos from the set. Most of the time I love them. This time I am so torn....

On the one hand, it is mind boggling that they were able to make that house from Shadow of a Doubt seem so real, so full of sunshine. You picture it in your mind perfectly, the hallway leading to Young Charlie's room, Uncle Charlie's room, the front stairway leading down to the doorway, the living room around the corner, the kitchen and back stairs... the garage....

On the other hand, It seemed so real, I was SURE that it was filmed on location somewhere! What a disappointment! I never really thought of it as a set built on a soundstage.

Poor John Payne. He was so broke, he had to wear trunks apparently made out of newspapers to form some kind of diaper. :shock:
